Champagne Barrat-Masson
Grain d'Argile
The Champagne Grain d’Argile by Barrat-Masson represents one of the most authentic and distinctive expressions of the Côte de Sézanne, a terroir where clay meets chalk to create wines of profound identity and purity.
This edition, based on the 2021 harvest, is crafted from a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, enriched by 40% of réserve perpétuelle aged in 600-liter oak barrels (demi-muid), which enhance the wine’s structure and depth. Fermentation takes place in wood, with no malolactic fermentation, in order to preserve natural freshness and tension. After tirage, the wine ages on its lees for at least 30 months, before being disgorged with no dosage (Brut Nature), expressing with total transparency the purity of the terroir and the essential style of the Domaine.
On the palate, Grain d’Argile is taut, luminous, and vertical, revealing aromas of ripe citrus, flint, and white-fleshed fruit, complemented by hints of almond and fine spice. The mouthfeel is marked by precise minerality and a savory length, supported by a delicate, perfectly integrated mousse. A pure and vibrant Champagne, capturing with precision the strength and grace of the Côte de Sézanne.
