The Champagne Esprit Nature by Henri Giraud best represents the commitment to sustainability and purity of the terroir of Aÿ, one of Champagne's most renowned Grand Crus. The fruit of the Maison's innovative vision, this Champagne adopts eco-friendly farming practices and a rigorous, uncompromising oenological process. The result is an authentic wine, expressive and full of character, enhancing the naturalness of the grapes and the deep connection with the land. Esprit Nature is the result of mainly Pinot Noir, to which a percentage of Chardonnay is added. One of its distinguishing features is its low sulphite content and fermentation in oak barrels from the Argonne forests, which gives it a solid structure and extraordinary complexity, while preserving exceptional purity and freshness. The grapes are grown according to the principles of sustainable agriculture, minimising environmental impact and ensuring superior quality.
To the eye, Esprit Nature has an elegant golden colour, accompanied by a fine, lively effervescence. On the nose it reveals a fresh and vibrant bouquet, with notes of white-fleshed fruit such as apple and pear, enriched by hints of citrus and light floral touches. Mineral and hazelnut nuances, the result of contact with wood, add further depth and complexity. On the palate, this Champagne stands out for its lively freshness and perfect balance between acidity and structure. Notes of citrus and fruit intertwine with a silky texture and marked minerality. Slight hints of honey, delicate spices and toasted almonds further enrich the complexity, leading to a long, clean and refined finish, with a lingering saline sensation that prolongs the pleasure.
The Maison Henri Giraud has old origins: it all started in 1628 when the Hémart family settled down in Aÿ, Grand Cru in the heart of Vallée de la Marne. At the beginning of the 20th century, Léon Giraud got married with Madeleine Hémart and they rebuilt the family's vineyards, previously devasted by phylloxera. The Maison is now experiencing its 13th vigneron generation with Emmanuelle, grand-niece of the founder, after which the cave is named. The annual production of the Maison Henri Giraud is about 260,000 bottles and is characterised by a personal idea of the use of wood in the different stages of vinification of each Cuvée.
