The Champagne Hors Série Millésime 2020 by Chartogne-Taillet is a limited edition, an exclusive and refined interpretation of the Blanc de Blancs cuvée by vigneron Alexandre. Made from 100% Chardonnay, it originates from a careful selection of grapes, partly from the renowned Lieu-Dit “Chemin de Châlons”, located near the village of Avize, and from vines in the Grand Cru of Oger, two exceptional terroirs of the Côte des Blancs.

The 2020 harvest is expressed through meticulous vinification in fût de chêne (oak barrels), followed by a long aging period of approximately 42 months on its lees. The low final dosage of only 1 g/l places it in the Extra Brut category, preserving the purest expression of the fruit and the distinctive minerality of the terroir.

On tasting, Hors Série Millésime 2020 stands out for its full-bodied and concentrated profile, an elegant structure that combines creaminess and mineral tension, achieving a perfect balance between power and finesse. The distinctive character of Avize and Oger translates into a deep and enveloping sip, enriched by an extraordinary persistence and aromatic complexity.

Champagne Chartogne-Taillet

Fiacre Taillet, wine-maker in Merfy in 1485 has been followed by a large number of wine-maker generations in Merfy. A second Fiacre Taillet, born in 1700 - expert wine-grower -, wrote down his memories, presenting his life and work, as well as the political, cultural and economic situation of the early 18th century. Laurent and Antoine Taillet still keep traces of their ancestor's diary, passed on from father to son. Today the diary is in the hands of Alexandre Chartogne-Taillet: since 2006 he has managed and looked after the wines and vineyards in Merfy.
