Bruno Michel and his wife Catherine started producing their Champagnes in 1985 in a beautiful cave from the 18th century, nestled in the chalk by the Benedictine monks, with elegant vault ceilings. Nowadays they manage 13 hectares, divided into 35 parcels, of Chardonnay (45%), Meunier (45%) and Pinot Noir (10%).
Their passion for Meunier can be considered a family's vice: Bruno's father - José Michel - vigneron since 1955, is strongly associated with this vine. All vineyards are located around the village of Pierry, 2 km south of Epernay. The average age of the vineyards is 35 but one is over 70 years old and is still grown "à l'ancienne" with isolated plants.
Since 2004 the company is officially 100% bio (Ecocert certification) and some vines are also treated according to biodynamics. Bruno Michel's Champagnes are the result of a rigid work, respecting nature and terroir, and have a unique flavour.
