The Champagnes by Michel Laval are like a photograph and they tell a story, the story of 5 generations of vignerons. It is a story about their values, their respect for their vineyards, preserving them to obtain the best grapes and their passion for producing Champagne. It was around 1870 when the Laval family's journey began, precisely when Jules inherited 40 acres of land and decided to grow grapes with his son Lucien. A few decades later - in 1948 - Roger and Fabienne, wanting to enjoy their hard-earned harvest, decided to develop the family Domaine by starting to produce their first Champagnes.
That marked an important turning point for the future of the family, characterised by a continuous growth, thanks to Roger who never stopped searching and exploring the rich and different terroir of Boursault to create Champagnes with their own and specific identity. But it wasn't until 1979 that Michel, belonging to the fourth generation, embraced his destiny by creating his own brand "Champagne Michel Laval" perpetuating the family values, while modernising vine growing and tilling practices.
As of 2019, Aurore and Florian, Michel's children, are proudly continuing what their father did, towards an increasingly respectful culture of their vineyards with the elimination of herbicides and the introduction of compost and green fertilizers. Their desire is to bring and pass on the family values of sharing, emotion and sincerity in every Cuvée they produce. Aurore is always in close contact with the vineyards, while Florian devotes himself to winemaking to express the full potential of the Boursault terroir.
