Benoît Lahaye

Benoît Lahaye comes from a family of vignerons active in Bouzy since 1930, today running the estate together with his wife Valérie and their two sons. The Domaine covers about 5 hectares, divided between 3 hectares in Bouzy, 1.5 hectares in Ambonnay, and 0.6 hectares in Tauxières, within the prestigious Montagne de Reims. The family management and the transmission of knowledge across generations have consolidated a respectful approach consistent with the identity of the territory.

The vineyards, planted mainly with Pinot Noir averaging 35 to 40 years of age, are farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles, without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. The use of a plow horse and massal selections encourages soil vitality and grape complexity. Each parcel contributes to the overall balance of the wines: Bouzy brings structure, power, and fruit, while Ambonnay provides acidity and softness, completing the harmony of the sensory profile.

In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, aging in oak, and a minimal use of sulfur help preserve the authenticity of the terroir and the natural energy of the grapes. The style of Benoît Lahaye is recognizable for its crystalline purity, fruit depth, and mineral tension, making his Champagnes both immediate and long-lived, faithful expressions of their origins and the family’s work.
